officials say many there are angered over a film reportedly produced in the u.s. attacking islam's prophet mohammed. >> don't like to say something about their prophet. he is not osama bin laden. he is not anybody else. he is our prophet. he is the best. >> reporter: muslims find it offensive to depict mohammed in any fashion. a state department officer has been killed. another person suffering an injury to the hand. the rioters burning much of the build and looting some of its contents. >> don't make our people angry because they will kill, they will fight. they will do such a situation. this is the situation because of the americans. they want to say something about our prophet. >> reporter: a similar scene is taking place within the muslim community in cairo, egypt. earlier in the day, protesters

scaled the walls of the u.s. embassy and replaced an american flag with an islamic banner. the demonstrations continued into the night with the crowd chanting anti-u.s. slogans. >> it's shame that your president allows such offenses from your country against the prophet of islam. >> reporter: secretary of state hillary clinton released a statement condemning the attacks. she says the u.s. deplores any intentional effort to the relig ainsley earhart, fox news. prince william county police are working to identify two suspected accused of stabbing a man they allegedly knew during a violent home invasion. this happened last night on delmar drive in woodbridge, virginia. police say the two men broke into the victim's home, stabbed him and stole his car. the victim was flown to a nearby trauma center. his condition is still unknown right now. happening overnight, a 16- year-old is shot in the district. this occurred in the 200 block of the 37th street southeast around 1 charleston 30 this

morning. police tell us the victim was shot in the stomach. he is expected to survive. no word right now on any suspects. prince george's county police are on the hunt for a suspect accused of killing a central high school student. >> the 18-year-old was walking to class yesterday morning when he was shot. melanie alnwick is live in the victim's neighborhood this morning at the victim's school with the details on the investigation. what is the latest? >> reporter: good morning. unfortunately, there isn't a lot of information here the police have to go on. the school community is just stunned by the murder of a central high school junior, marckel ross. his body was found not far from here along a well traveled sidewalk about halfway between his home and his school. 18-year-old marckel ross was and honor role student, said to have a bright spirit. air force member of the modeling club, the track and field team and rotc. no one can imagine why someone would want to kill him. ross was walking to school

along old central avenue tuesday morning. police got calls shortly before 7:00 a.m. about someone lying on the ground. then they arrived to find ross dead with a gun -- a gunshot wound to the upper body. ross' family is devastated. >> i miss his smile. i miss him dancing. he like to perform for the family even if you're not willing to look at him. he loves his pictures. marckel was a good son. of his a good child. >> reporter: elizabeth ross says her son was bullied last year but that things had gotten better. police spent time at central high school as did grief counselors. so far, police have not released a motive. we don't know whether this was targeted. we don't know whether it was a robbery or mistaken identity. just a lot of questions here and no arrests obviously as well in this case. they are offering a reward of

deadly fires that were burning in pakistan are finally out. two different fires at factories in pakistan's big of the city have now killed over 190 people. firefighters say they just pulled 166 bodies from one of the fires. many of the victims died because there were not enough fire exits and could not get out of the build. there were also not enough fire alarms and sprinklers in the factseries either. 350,000 students in the chicago school area will miss a third straight day of class because of the teachers strike. thousands of teachers marched through the streets of chicago yesterday. the two sides met for more than 10 hours but are still at a stalemate over issues like

performance evaluations and the recall rights of laid-off teachers. talks are expected to resume at 11:00 this morning. the wife of alan gross, the 63-year-old maryland man imprisoned in could you be a is fearful her husband will not survive his 15-year sentence. ayuday gross just returned from cuba on sunday. officials there allowed her to see her husband three separate times. she says he has lost 10 pounds in the 10-foot by 10-foot sell that he shares with two other prisoners. the cuban government arrested gross in 2009 claiming he was part of a u.s. earth to undermine the communist regime by equipping people with internet access. are more than $100,000 missing from his campaign. >> detail of who this d.c. council member believes took the money and what he plans to do about it. >> good morning. we have the cool temperatures out there again. temperatures in the 40s and 50s outside the beltway. what will your wednesday have

tomorrow with highs in the mid volunteer. this is our next weather feature of note. that is a cold front which will get in here late friday. really, i think during the day on saturday, bring us some cloud cover with a couple of showers around here now. yesterday, we thought it would get here sunday. looks like it will get here a day sooner. winds light out of the south and east about five. as we get into the nighttime hours, we'll be nice and calm again with cool conditions expected. overnight lows expected back in the 50s and 60s. 84 tomorrow. that is the warm one in the next seven days. we are bouncing around a little bit. if you want to time out showers, you think a few on saturday and a few more on monday. but generally a nice, sunny dry streak here continues as we get into the weekend. let's do some traffic and get the latest from julie wright. >> for those waking up on the wrong side of the bed a little cranky, i think we have a forecast for the traffic that they'll like. right now, you are at speed. no problems to report southbound along 270 as you head south of 109 doing the

double nickel out towards clarksburg. top side of the beltway looks great between college park and bethesda. eastbound 66, wide open right now leaving vienna towards the capital beltway. overnight construction on the westbound side has cleared. all lanes are open. no trouble spots to report crossing over the potomac. lanes are open on the southbound stretch of the gw parkway lefting the capital beltway headed out towards the potomac crossings. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. d.c. council member michael brown is providing more details about alleged missing money from his campaign. he contacted police back in july but at that point, we didn't know much about how much had been taken. >> brown now says it is more than $100,000. he called media together to point his finger directly at a campaign worker who he believes took the money right out from under his nose. matt ackland has the story. >> reporter: for now, $112,000 in campaign contributions are down drain and there is less than two months until election

day. >> our campaign is also committed to recovering every single dollar that was taken from us. >> reporter: councilmember brown spoke to the media in front of the wilson building w only limit detail, he tried to explain who he believes took the money over a period of a few months. >> i want my supporters to also understand that the person who embezzled from the campaign was someone who had been working with me for more than half a decade. it is someone that i had extreme confidence in. >> reporter: but how could over $100,000 go miss something brown says he was carefully inspecting campaign finance reports but should have also checked bank deposits as well. >> all the reports were coming in and clearly the reports we thought were accurate. no reason for us to believe they weren't. so no, i'm glad that frankly, with all the drum beat of ethics, please someone show me a list where an elected

education, the president held and 18-point margin over governor romney, 52 to 34%. not all education advocates are convinced. >> when it comes to education, the president deserves a c. >> reporter: the president gets high mark for shining a spotlight on what many advocates are calling an education crisis in the u.s. there is skepticism about his proposals which include recruiting 100,000 math and science teachers over the next several years, granting waivers from the no child left behind law to more than 30 states and allowing young people in the country illegally toern citizenship by attending college. romney who was a strong advocate of school choice says charter schools are key. both say they will fight to bring down the cost of higher education but the starkest contrast come on the topic of teachs are unions. the american federation of teens are endorsed the

police are searching for two suspects accused of stabbing a man during a violent home invasion. sky fox was over the scene on delmar drive in woodbridge, virginia last night. according to police, two men broke into the victim's home, stabbed him and stole his 1990s white buick regal. they say the three men knew each other and there is no threat to the public. to maryland where family and friends are mourning the loss of a central high school student. the 1-year-old was walking to class yesterday morning when he was shot and killed. >> this morning, his killers still on the loose. melanie alnwick is live at central high school in capital heights, maryland with details on the investigation. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. as you can imagine, the entire school community here is just stunned by this murder. the body of junior marckel ross was actually found laying on a sidewalk not far from here. he was halfway between his home and school. 18-year-old marckel ross was and honor roll student. he was said to have a bright spirit.

of his a member of the modeling club, the track and field team and ro tc. no one can imagine why someone would want to kill him. ross was walking to school. he was on old central avenue tuesday morning. police got calls shortly before 7:00 a.m. not from hearing gunshot wounds but seeing someone lying on the ground. then they arrived and they found ross dead way gunshot wound to the upper body. police searched the area for clues. so far, nothing. central high school students just can't believe it. >> it was crazy. everybody was crying. it was just sad. >> everybody was freaked out. >> nobody expected it. >> it was like wow, that's scary. >> i still don't believe it. >> i don't either. >> we are going to get through it. >> reporter: police spent time at central high school yesterday along with grief counselors. marckel's mother said that her son was bullied last year but things had gotten better.

so fur, police have not release a motive. we don't know whether there was a robbery involved in this case or whether it may have been a case of mistaken identity. we are still waiting for more information and details to come out about that. hopefully, police will get more information to work on today. there is a reward for up to $25,000 in this case. three men will now face life in prison without parole following a judge's sentencing for their involvement in one of d.c.'s deadliest shootings. they all received the harsh sentence. the deadly march 2010 shooting spree killed five people and wounded nine others in a fight over a bless let. the men had little to say as family members recall what life has been like since the shooting. two other men received lesser sentences. the man who owned the bracelet will serve 54 years and lamar williams, who supplied the guns, will serve 30 years.

health officials have confirmed one person has died as a result of west nile virus. the person ways senior citizen from northwest virginia. nine people in the state have been infected with the disease this year. and in maryland, 21 cases of the virus have been reported killing one person and the district has reported one case which killed its victim. crews are trying to fight the spread of the disease by spraying the region to kill the mosquitos. federal health officials say this is the worst year for west nile virus in the country since it was first discovered 13 years ago. another frightening scene at a school in baltimore county. the school was put on lockdown after a student brought a gun to class. we'll get the details coming up next. >> plus, this video made national add lines actually woman being bullied on the school bus. a huge act of kindness. we are checking more headlines when we come back. is the. the dow closed at a five- year high yesterday. it ended up 69 points. the nasdaq added a half point and japan's nick can i is way

we are following breaking news right now from overseas. we are getting reports that the violence in libya has now claimed the life of the american ambassador to libya. this is not confirmed right now but the bbc is reporting that he tied in a rocket attack this morning in the libyan city of bengazi. reuters says the ambassador and three other staffs at the consulate were also killed. this is following last night's attack by an angry mob on the consulate. >> also reports are saying it is not cheer if the ambassador was in his car or if he was actually at the libyan consulate when the attack occurred. so they are still trying to get the detail of that. this all comes after a film produced in the u.s. insulted the prophet mohammed and that sparked a lot of the violence that is right now. we'll continue to follow that

story and bring you more details as they become available. available. . making headlines, a gun locks down a baltimore county school. parents removed children early from the school yesterday afternoon after reports of an incident involving a gun. now, no one was hurt but officials locked down the school after a student brought a gun to class yesterday morning. police searched the building but students were not dismissed early. some items that police say were likely looted from the world trade center rubble after the 9-11 attacks have turned up in michigan. owner of the smoky mountain tobacco shop in hasting found a small box in the store when he took over the property this year. side, he found some cash and i. d. s and business cards. police have matched about 10 of the name to the list of nope survivors. there are two or three that are not on either a list of survivors or of those killed. officers are working to return the items to their owners now.
